
Loza Promoted To Full-Time Player Development Role

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State head softball coach Samantha Ricketts has announced the promotion of Alyssa Loza to a full-time role as coordinator of player development.

Loza has spent the last three years on the Bulldogs' staff as a graduate assistant and a player development fellow. She played three seasons at State from 2019-21.

"We are thrilled to have Alyssa Loza join our team in a full-time role," Ricketts said. "Her dedication, love for Mississippi State and significant contributions to our program's success make her an invaluable asset. I appreciate the support from our administration in the creation of this role as we continue to do our part to grow the game of softball, especially in the areas of data and technology."

As a fellow, Loza primarily managed biometric and performance data while assisting with travel planning. Mississippi State makes use of multiple data collection systems throughout practice and team workouts including Rapsodo, Blast and Yakkertech. Loza also serves as the coaching staff's liaison with the Bulldogs' sports science department and the athlete engineering department on campus. Additionally, she helps with State's recruiting operation, tracking prospects' metrics and maintaining scouting records.

While in graduate school, Loza assisted with travel preparation and equipment orders along with serving as an extra arm for live batting practice and assisting with the pitching staff's fielding development. In 2022, Loza helped the Bulldog pitching staff turn in an impressive season with just three errors in 64 games. She assisted with pitch charting and opponent scouting as the Bulldogs reached their first Super Regional in program history.

In her final collegiate season, Loza was a weapon out of the bullpen, collecting six saves, which ranked third in the nation. She was just the fourth Bulldog in program history to record six or more saves in a year. The month of May was especially strong for the fifth-year senior as she picked up five saves and a win in nine appearances with a 2.37 ERA. Loza led all Bulldog pitchers with 21 relief appearances and struck out 44 batters in 54.0 innings.

The North Torrance, California, native transferred to MSU from Arizona State prior to the 2019 season. She also brings experience playing at the international level with the Mexican National Team and Mexican Junior National Team. She spent the summer working in the professional ranks with Athletes Unlimited this year.

Loza was a three-time member of the SEC Honor Roll and graduated with dual bachelor's degrees in marketing and business management in in 2021. She completed her master's in sports administration in 2023.
