July 22, 2024 | Football
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State football's Nick Barr-Mira has been nominated for the 2024 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
Barr-Mira is one of 111 FBS student-athletes nominated for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. To be considered for a spot on the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, each player must be actively involved with a charitable organization or service group while maintaining strong academic standing.
Allstate is partnering with the Wuerffel Foundation to bring together two of the most meaningful awards in college football. The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy will honor a student-athlete inspired to serve others and positively impact society. Together with the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, the awards will mark college football's premier honors for community service.
Barr-Mira, a native of Palos Verdes, Calif., has been one of the leaders in the MSU locker room when it comes to giving back to the community. Since coming to Starkville before the start of last season, Barr-Mira has participated in numerous community service events. The newly created D.A.W.G. program has allowed Barr-Mira to participate in community service events such as Read Across America, Ryan's Giving Tree, the Emily Chancellor Polar Bear Plunge, a school service trip to Miami, Habitat for Humanity and multiple trips to Overstreet Elementary School District just to name a few.
Barr-Mira was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll after his first season at State. While at UCLA, he was a member of the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll and a five-time member of the UCLA Athletic Directors Honor Roll.
In his career, Barr-Mira has made 40 career appearances, with 32 of those coming at UCLA. He has made 36 career field goals with a career-long of 49 yards. Barr-Mira has been nearly automatic on point after attempts, making 143 of the 146 he has attempted. Barr-Mira enters the 2024 season with a streak of 81 consecutive PATs made.
