
Bulldogs Set to Compete At NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – A record number of Mississippi State Bulldogs will compete this week at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships to conclude the 2024 season. The competition will be held Wednesday through Saturday at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Seventeen Bulldogs – 10 men and seven women – qualified for the championships, after finishing in the top 12 of their respective events at the NCAA East First Rounds. This is the most State has qualified in more than a decade.

The men will compete on Wednesday and Thursday, and the women will compete Thursday and Saturday. The first two days will be preliminary semifinal rounds for running events while the last two days will be the final rounds. Field events will all be final.

MSU will start competition at 2:30 p.m. CT Wednesday with the men's decathlon followed by the men' s 4x100m relay at 6:32 p.m. CT. The shot put finals will begin at 8:40 CT followed by the 4x400m relay at 9:48 CT to conclude Wednesday's events. Live results can be found here.

The women will begin at 7:32 CT Thursday with 4x100m relay semifinals followed by the 100m hurdles at 10:32 CT. The shot put finals will begin at 9:40 CT to conclude Thursday's events.

Peyton Bair – Decathlon
Peyton Bair qualified for the decathlon ranked third in the east region and ranked 10th nationally with a score of 7730 points achieved at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Bair was named a Second Team All-American after earning 11th at last year's outdoor championships with a score of 7,653.

Roury McCloyen – Shot Put and Discus
Roury McCloyen qualified for both the shot put and discus and is the only Bulldog to qualify for two individual events. McCloyen is one of only two freshmen to qualify for the championships in the shot put and is one of only three to qualify in the discus. He was the highest placing freshman in the shot put at the SEC Outdoor Championships where he finished sixth.

Three javelin throwers – two men and one woman – will compete at the championships. Senior Franck Di Sanza and junior Remi Rougetet will be making their second appearance, while juniors Ella Knott will be making her first appearance. Di Sanza, a First Team All-American, will return to the championships for the first time since 2021 where he placed sixth. Rougetet, a Second Team All American, will be returning to the championships after placing ninth at the 2023 championships. Ella Knott will return to her home state for her first championship appearance.

Jhordyn Stallworth – Shot Put
Jhordyn Stallworth will compete at the outdoor championships for the first time in her career. The senior holds the school record in the shot put with a personal best of 17.30m (56-9.25). Stallworth earned a career-best 11th place at the NCAA East First Rounds with a mark of 16.44m (53-11.25). She placed eighth overall in the shot put at the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Women's 10m Hurdles
Two Bulldogs qualified for the championships in the 100m hurdles. Rosealee Cooper will return to Eugene for the second time, while Jessicka Woods will make her first appearance. Cooper, the school record holder in the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.93, placed eighth overall at the NCAA First Rounds. Woods placed just behind her in ninth. Woods ran a personal-best time of 12.23 in the opening rounds, while Cooper tied her personal best at the SEC Championships where she finished seventh.

Men's 4x100m Relay and 4x400m Relay
Both men's relay teams qualified for the championships. The 4x100m relay featuring Shamar Rose, Jordan Ware, Sema'J Daniels and Bair finished ninth at the NCAA East First Rounds with a time of 39.67. The squad had the second-fastest performance at State with a time of 39.04 at the SEC Outdoor Championships.Â

The 4x400m relay team featuring Daniels, AJ Hale, Christion Barker and Keldrick Turner placed eighth at the NCAA East First Rounds with a time of 3:02.63. The time ranks third on State's all-time top-five list.

Women's 4x100m relay team
The women's 4x100m relay team qualified for the championships after placing eighth at the NCAA East First Rounds with a time of 43.83. The squad featuring Cooper, Jaitlyn Ware, Kyndall Sessom and Mckenzie Calloway broke the school record for the second meet in a row.
