Bulldogs and Alumni Set to Begin Road Paris

EUGENE, Ore. – Current and former members of the Mississippi State track and field program will begin their journey to Paris this week. Mississippi State will be represented by four current athletes and nine alumni across seven countries.
Six Bulldogs will compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, including the 2024 decathlon national runner-up Peyton Biar. Bair will compete in his first Olympic trials.
The 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field will be held June 21-30 at Hayward Field in Eugene. The full schedule can be found here. The events will be broadcasted on NBC, USA Network and Peacock. The Broadcast schedule can be found here.
The U.S Team Trials:
Curtis Thompson (javelin) and Tiffany Flynn (long jump) will also begin competition on Friday. Thompson, MSU's first NCAA Champion in the javelin in 2016, made his Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Games and is a three-time USATF Champion in 2023, 2021 and 2018.
Flynn will make her second trip to the U.S Olympic Trials after falling just short at the 2020 Trials where she finished fourth. The 2019 graduate was a three-time All-American while at Mississippi State.
Cameron Crump will take his second trip to the U.S. Olympic trials on Saturday, competing in the long jump. Crump who graduated in 2023, was a five-time All-American during his time at State earning national runner-up in the long jump at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Erica Bougard, a 2016 MSU graduate, is on the road to her second Olympic appearance after placing ninth in the heptathlon at the 2020 Olympic Games. Bougard, one of the most-decorated athletes in MSU history with 16 All-America honors and five school records during her time at State, placed fourth in the heptathlon at the 2019 Outdoor World Championships and is a two-time USATF heptathlon champion. She will begin the competition Sunday.
Sarah Blake, a 2021 graduate, will compete in her second Olympic Trials beginning June 28, in the javelin. The Javelin school record holder was a second-team All-American while at State and currently ranks ninth in the nation.
Competing Around The World
World Champion Marco Arop will compete for a spot with Team Canada on June 27. Arop won the 2023 World Championship in the 800 after claiming bronze the year prior. He currently holds the 800m indoor and outdoor Canadian records and ranks No. 1 in the world. Arop finished seventh in the semifinals at the 2020 Olympic Games.
Navasky Anderson and Tyrese Reid will compete for team Jamaica in the 800m on June 27. Anderson, a 2023 graduate, who holds the Jamaican 800m record holder, was a two-time All-American while at State, earning national runner-up at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships. Reid, a 2024 graduate, will make his Olympic trials debut. Reid earned second place at the 2024 SEC Indoor Championships.
Javelin throwers Franck Di Sanza and Remi Rougetet will compete for a place on Team Switzerland and team France, respectively. The duo both earned a trip to the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships where Rougetet earned First Team All-America honors after placing sixth overall.
Marta Pen Frietas, a 2017 graduate, will compete for a spot on the Portugal Olympic Team on June 29 in the 1500m. Pen Frietas is a 10-time Portuguese National Champion indoors and outdoors with seven 1500m titles, a pair of 800m crowns and a 3000m championship. She made her Olympic debut in the 1500m at the 2016 Rio Games and reached the 1500m semifinals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
