
Baroni Signs With The Bulldogs

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State men's tennis picked up the second member of its 2024 signing class with the addition of Niccoló Baroni.
Baroni comes to Starkville from the University of Pisa and the 20-year-old freshman will have four years of eligibility for the Bulldogs.
"We are thrilled to have Niccoló joining out team in August and cannot wait to get to work with him," said assistant coach Jake Jacoby. "The combination of our values as a program with his tennis and personal goals has been a perfect match from the start, and we're excited to see him grow here in Starkville. He brings a wealth of talent, maturity and experience that will allow him to thrive in our family as well as push the rest of the Bulldogs around him."
Baroni holds a 13.3 UTR rating and has a career-best ITF singles ranking of 77. The native of Viareggio, Italy has collected 12 ATP singles points while sporting a career-high ATP singles ranking of 1140.
In his most recent action, Baroni won five singles matches (four in straight sets) and reached the semifinals of the ITF Cervia 15K in his home country.
Baroni joins Troy transfer Mario Martinez Serrano in MSU's 2024 signing class. Martinez Serrano was selected as the ITA Southern Regional Player to Watch on Wednesday.
