
McCloyen Wins At USATF U20 Championships, Qualifies for U20 World Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Freshman Roury McCloyen took home the gold medal in the discus at the USATF U20 Championships on Wednesday to qualify for the U20 World Championships in Peru later this year.
The Mississippi native finished with a personal-record mark of 60.28m (197-09) on his first attempt. His mark is almost a 12-foot improvement from his previous personal best. He currently ranks second on State's all-time top five list. McCloyen will have the opportunity to strike gold again at 8 p.m. CT Thursday in the shot put.
Kennedy Stringfellow finished ninth in the long jump and will compete in the 200m at 6:35 p.m. CT Thursday.
