Janthamunee, Lopez Ramirez lead Bulldogs in Second Round of Bermuda Run Regional

BERMUDA RUN, N.C. – After day two at Bermuda Run Country Club, the Mississippi State Bulldogs sit in fourth place in the Bermuda Run Regional. Surapa Janthamunee and Julia Lopez Ramirez fired off rounds in the 60s to lead the way.
The Bulldogs finished Tuesday even par as a team, which puts them in fourth place with a two-day total of 5-under. State has carded two eagles, which is tied for the most with No. 3 Wake Forest, and 28 birdies in the tournament, which ranks fifth among the field. They currently sit one stroke ahead of fifth-place Tennessee, who is four-under. North Texas sits right outside the top five at two-under.
Janthamunee was able to continue her momentum from the opening round, as she fired her second 3-under round of the tournament. SJ played bogey-free golf and picked up three birdies on the day. Her performance in the first two days of the regional marked the first time in her career that she has carded two rounds in the 60s in back-to-back days. SJ has carded 30 pars the first two days, which is tied for the most in the tournament. Janthamunee sits in fourth with a two-day total of five-under entering the final round of the Bermuda Run Regional.
Julia Lopez Ramirez was able to card her 35th career round in the 60s as she also finished the day 3-under par. Lopez Ramirez has carded four rounds in the 60s this postseason in five rounds played. Today's round marked her 62nd career par or better round, which extends her newly owned program record. On hole four, Lopez Ramirez carded State's second eagle of the regional after Izzy Pellot shot one yesterday. They are the only pair of teammates to have eagles in the field. Lopez Ramirez enters the final round on Wednesday tied for 7th at 4-under.
No. 3 Wake Forest extended their day one lead, as they shot seven-under in the second round for a total of 18-under par. No. 10 Texas and No. 15 Ole Miss sit in a tie for second place at 12-under.
Mississippi State will be paired up with Tennessee and North Texas in the final round of the Bermuda Run Regional, which takes place on Wednesday. The top five teams at the conclusion of the tournament will advance to the NCAA Championship, which takes place at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
