State Set to Conclude Regular Season at Old Barnwell Derby Match Play

STARKVILLE – With the regular season coming to a close, Mississippi State travels to Aiken, South Carolina for their final tournament, the Old Barnwell Derby Match Play.

Mississippi State hits the course alongside Duke, Florida State and host school South Carolina. The tournament will consist of teams of six, with five scores counting towards the match totals. Competing in the tournament for State will be Julia Lopez Ramirez, Avery Weed, Surapa Janthamunee, Izzy Pellot, Chiara Horder and Samantha Whateley.

The last time Julia Lopez Ramirez took the course, she earned her seventh collegiate individual victory, highlighted by her seven-under final round. This led to her earning an SEC Golfer of the Week honor.

Avery Weed will be participating in her eighth event of the season, the only Bulldog to play in all eight tournaments. Throughout six stroke play tournaments, Weed sits at a 72.7 stroke average, the second-best average on the team.

Surapa Janthamunee will compete in her sixth event of the year. SJ has played in every spring event in the second half of the season, one of three Bulldogs to do such.

Izzy Pellot will return for her sixth event of the season. Pellot will be making her match play debut this season, the only Bulldog in the lineup to do such.

Chiara Horder will return to the lineup for the Bulldogs at Old Barnwell. The last time Horder was on the course for a match play event, she earned a point for State on the final day of the Therese Hession Regional Challenge.

Samantha Whateley wraps out the lineup for the Bulldogs. The freshman from Johannesburg, South Africa will be competing in her sixth event of the season as well.
The opening day of the tournament will feature two matches, while the tournament champion will be named after the final round on Tuesday.
