STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women's basketball senior guard Jerkaila Jordan announced on Tuesday that she will return to the program for her fifth season of eligibility in 2024-25.
Â
"The decision for Jerkaila Jordan to use her fifth season and return to Mississippi State is a statement to the special person, player and competitor that she is." head coach Sam Purcell said. "She is invested in what we are building here and her teammates' success both on and off the court. Mississippi State is getting a great leader and teammate back, who is excited to achieve every goal that we have set from day one."
Â
Jordan - who will return for her fourth season at Mississippi State - has an additional year of eligibility available after the NCAA granted all student-athletes affected by COVID-19 affected campaign a waiver.
Â
"I can't even put into words what Mississippi State means to me," Jordan added. "I am grateful for the relationships and memories that I have made here with my teammates, the staff and our fans over these last three seasons. I decided to use my fifth year to come back and finish what I started here, to leave a legacy and to help lead a team that has that same mindset. I know that Coach Purcell is building a special program here and we still have a lot of goals to achieve."
Jordan earned 2024 Second Team All-SEC honors this season after she averaged a team-high 16.0 points and 2.2 steals, in addition to career-best marks in rebounds, assists and minutes with 5.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists in 30.9 minutes per contest. She led the team in points in 16 and has scored 10-plus points in 25 of the 32 contests this season.
The New Orleans, La. native is the only player to start all 32 games this season, a mark that extends to all 121 of her career dating back to her freshman season at Tulane in 2020-21. She recorded seven double-doubles after entering the season with four in three years prior and posted 24.5 points, 4.0 steals, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 33.9 minutes against State's top-10 opponents this season.
Jordan ranks 13th in the program record books with 1,299 points and eight with 198 steals in her 94 games at Mississippi State.
