STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State tandem of Chloé Cirotte and Jayna Clemens claimed a doubles victory against No. 34 LSU on Sunday afternoon at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.

However, it would be the only win the Bulldogs experienced as the Tigers traveled back to The Bayou with a 4-0 triumph.

After Maria Rizzolo and Alessia Tagliente dropped a 6-2 decision to LSU's Gaby Rivera and Maya Tahan to start doubles, Cirotte and Clemens were able to even things up for MSU. The blonde Bulldog duo prevailed 6-3 over Florentine Dekkers and Aran Teixidó Garcia.

Doubles came down to Court 1 in a back-and-forth battle between State's Alexandra Mikhailuk and Athina Pitta and Kenna Erickson and Anita Sahdiieva. Ultimately, the LSU team came out on top 6-4 to claim the doubles point.

The Tigers took the first three singles decisions to improve to 10-4 on the year and 2-2 in conference play. Teixido Garcia defeated Rizzolo 6-2, 6-2, Tahan topped Pitta 6-2, 6-4 and Rivera clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Tagliente.

Mississippi State's Cirotte and Clemens were both on top and in position to win their matches in straight sets when the match was clinched.

Chris Hooshyar's Bulldogs (9-6, 0-3 SEC) will hit the road for a pair of matches next weekend at Kentucky and Vanderbilt on Friday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m., respectively.
