TEAM NOTES
- Mississippi State extended the SEC's longest active winning streak to five games in dominating fashion as the Bulldogs blitzed LSU, 87-67, to improve to 19-8 overall and 8-6 in SEC action.
- The victory also enabled State to strengthen its hold on seventh place in the SEC standings, two games clear of LSU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. State also is now one game behind Florida and Kentucky, who are tied for fifth place.
- The Bulldogs have won back-to-back decisions over LSU under second-year coach Chris Jans. The 20-point win was the program's largest margin of victory in Baton Rouge dating back to a 61-39 triumph on 01/09/2008.
- State has held its opponents to less than 70 points in 45 of 61 games (73.8 percent) over two seasons under Coach Jans.
- The Bulldogs have won 11 of their 14 games under Coach Jans during February, while Coach Jans is 48-12 overall over his eight seasons at the NCAA Division I level in February games.
- This season, State has won 14 of their 19 games by 10-plus points.
- The Maroon and White moved to 15-1 this season and 33-4 over the last two seasons under Coach Jans when leading at the half.
- The Bulldogs hit 19 of their 30 field goals on the interior en route to outscoring LSU, 38-36, in paint points.
- State tucked away a 37-34 rebounding advantage and has won the battle of the boards during 21 of 27 games this season.
- The Maroon and White hauled down 16 offensive rebounds, which led to a season-best 27 of the game's 37 points on second-chance opportunities.
- Another key for State was firing off a dominate 41-12 advantage in bench points and have outscored its opponent in 18 outings this season. In those 18 aforementioned contests, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents by a 633-225 margin.
- State improved to 16-4 this season and 24-5 over the last two seasons with Coach Jans at the helm when scoring 70 or more points. Overall, teams under Coach Jans' direction are 121-18 when accomplishing the feat.
- The Maroon and White improved to 19-6 this season and 35-9 over the last two seasons under Coach Jans when shooting 40.0 percent or higher.
- State connected on 30-of-65 from the floor (46.2 percent), sank 10-of-21 from three-point territory (47.6 percent) and hit on 17-of-22 at the charity stripe (77.3 percent).
- The Maroon and White improved to 13-2 this season and 21-4 over the last two seasons under Coach Jans when making 15 or more free throws.
- The 47.6 three-point shooting percentage is a season's best for State.
- Conversely, LSU turned in a 24-for-58 shooting effort (41.4 percent), connected on 3-for-17 of its three-pointers (17.6 percent) and produced a 16-for-22 clip from the free throw line (72.7 percent).
PLAYER NOTES
- Earned the nod in State's starting five for the 8th straight game.
- Collected a career-high 32 points, 19 of which came after halftime. He drained 5 of his career-best 6 three-pointers during the second half.
- The 32-point effort is the most scored by a State player under Coach Jans.
- Became the first State player to score 30+ points during a game since Iverson Molinar tallied 30 at No. 12 Kentucky on 01/25/2022.
- Produced double figures in 22 of 27 games fueled by 20+ points in 7 outings this season.
- Amassed 412 total points, which is 5th-most for a freshman in program history through 27 games and the most since Rickey Brown (1976-77).
- Matched a career-high with 9 field goals made. He also accomplished the feat at Florida and versus Northwestern earlier this season

- Compiled 8 points, 2 assists, a steal and a block after battling first-half foul trouble.
- Handed out multiple dimes for the 19th time this season with 44 of his 62 games with multiple assists occurring during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
- Matthews' lone rebound moved him into sole-possession of 25th-place on the program's career rebounds list with 593 rebounds.
- He passed Terry Kusnierz (1971-72-73) on the program's list during tonight's game.
- Made 63 of his 65 career starts while at State and has started the team's last 19 games.
- Secured 5 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.
- Dished out 3+ assists for the 6th time this season with 19 of his 32 games of 3+ dimes at State coming against SEC competition.
- Registered multiple steals for the 7th time this season with 40 of his 51 games of 2+ steals coming at State.Â
- Inserted into the starting five for the second-straight game and the 16th time this year.

- Finished with a team-best +27 plus/minus rating during his time on the floor.
- Marked his 11th game of the season and 57th career game of 5+ made field goals.
- Secured multiple blocks for the 2nd time this season and the 15th time of his career.
- Smith III's 8 made field goals moved him into sole possession of 13th-place as he passed Gavin Ware (2013-14-15-16) on the program's list. He has knocked down 540 career field goals. Â Â
- KeShawn Murphy nearly compiled his first career double-double with 11 points, 9 rebounds, a block and a steal.
- The first time in his career that Murphy has racked up consecutive games with 10+ points.
