ABOUT THE INAUGURAL WOMEN'S GOLD CUP:
Featuring eight Concacaf representatives and four guests from Conmebol (South America), the 2024 Concacaf Women's Gold Cup presents a prime opportunity for teams across the Americas to stake their claim as the continent's best. With representation spanning from Canada in the north to Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana in the south, CONCACAF serves 41 Member Associations under FIFA's umbrella.
In a bid to enhance the frequency of women's national team matches in the region, CONCACAF, the governing body for North American soccer under FIFA's jurisdiction, unveiled a comprehensive four-year calendar in 2020. This strategic plan was designed to culminate in a redesigned World Cup qualification tournament, eventually named the " Concacaf Women's Championship," scheduled for 2022. Additionally, a groundbreaking "Women's Concacaf Nations League" was introduced for 2024, marking a significant development in the organization's efforts to promote and elevate women's soccer in the region.
