Weed Finishes Runner-Up at Nexus Collegiate

NASSAU, Bahamas. – After three rounds of the Nexus Collegiate Invitational, Avery Weed walked away with her best career finish, as she earned second place.
The freshman from Ocean Springs put together two rounds of under-par golf to finish one-under in The Bahamas, marking the fourth time a Bulldog has finished in the top-five individually this season. Weed finished one stroke behind the eventual winner Ellie Roth of North Texas. Only the top-five golfers on the leaderboard finished under-par.
State as a team finished fifth in the tournament, as they gained two spots in the final round shooting six-over par. The Dawgs finished eight strokes out of the top-three and 11 strokes behind the eventual team winner, Tulsa.
Mississippi State will be back in action when they travel to Hilton Head Island for the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in South Carolina. That tournament is set to begin on Monday, March 4.
