Mississippi State's Willie Gay Jr. and Chris Jones will be vying for their second-straight Super Bowl championship later today as members of the Kansas City Chiefs' defense.
Jones will be appearing in his fourth Super Bowl could be the first Bulldog to earn his third Super Bowl ring. He also hoisted the Lombardi Trophy as a member of the Chiefs' 2019 team and is tied with former Dallas Cowboys linebacker D.D. Lewis for the most Super Bowl titles among MSU alums.
Jones has played in 18 career playoff games with 16 starts on the defensive line. The five-time Pro Bowler has registered 34 tackles, five tackles for loss, 2 ½ sacks and forced a fumble during his postseason career.
Gay, who missed the AFC Championship Game due to a neck injury, is expected to take part in his third Super Bowl. The Starkville native has started all eight of his career postseason games at linebacker with 25 tackles, four for loss, a half-sack, three pass defenses and a forced fumble.
Historically, 41 players from MSU have made 61 appearances on Super Bowl rosters with 25 Bulldogs going on to claim 27 championships.
Also representing Mississippi State in this year's Super Bowl is former Diamond Dawg Brad Freeman. Freeman will work as the back judge on the officiating crew. State alum Dr. Allen Sills also serves as the NFL's Chief Medical Officer.
