Mississippi State Announces $1.75 Million Gift To State Excellence Fund
December 06, 2024 | Athletics
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State Athletics has received a $1.75 million gift to the State Excellence Fund from a family who chooses to remain anonymous, Director of Athletics Zac Selmon announced Friday. The generous family, which includes members of MSU's Cristil Society, has been long-time supporters of the Bulldogs' athletic programs.
The announcement comes after MSU Athletics received a $3 million commitment to the State Excellence Fund from another family of devoted supporters just last week. Over the past month, MSU has received more than $6 million in commitments to the State Excellence Fund. The department also garnered a historic $8 million to the State Excellence Fund in September.
"Mississippi State University has profoundly shaped our family across generations, with my own attendance and two of our three children proudly graduating as Bulldogs," the family said. "We are deeply inspired by Athletic Director Zac Selmon's commitment to excellence and his forward-thinking vision for MSU's athletic programs. It is a privilege to support this transformative journey and to give back to an institution that has significantly enriched our lives."
Launched earlier this fall, the State Excellence Fund is dedicated to enhancing student-athlete resources and providing athletic benefits in a highly competitive environment.
"We are deeply grateful for the tremendous support from this family of Bulldogs," Selmon said. "This family bleeds Maroon and White and are devoted champions for our sport programs, student-athletes and coaches. Their generosity and commitment to excellence is sure to make a lasting impact on Mississippi State Athletics."
