STARKVILLE – Macey Hodge, the SEC Midfielder of the Year, signed with Angel City FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) on Monday. The Mississippi State graduate is now the program's fourth player to reach the NWSL.
Â
Hodge earned MSU's first First Team All-America honor from United Soccer Coaches. She was also a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and member of Top Drawer Soccer's Best XI First Team in her final collegiate season.
Â
"I'm beyond excited to join a club that's not only dedicated to growing the women's game, but also invested in strengthening the community around it," Hodge said. "It's important to me to be a part of an organization that uplifts youth, women and promotes diverse communities. Overall, I'm thrilled to be part of a team that's building a unique sense of camaraderie while also fostering a deep love for soccer!"
Â
A 2024 team captain, Hodge played in 21 matches, tallying 1,769 minutes with two assists. The heartbeat of a team that outscored opponents 29-2 in SEC play, Hodge played a crucial role in the Bulldog attack, dictating the team's tempo up field. She helped State earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and win the Southeastern Conference with a 10-0-0 regular season in league play.
Â
Hodge played 97 career matches at State, logging 8,509 minutes, both of which are program records. She totaled five assists over five seasons.
Â
"To see the growth from Macey over the last four years is why coaching is so special," MSU head coach Nick Zimmerman said. "She has touched so many lives and has left the jersey in a better place. We couldn't be more proud of her and look forward to all her continued success."
Â
Hodge's contract is a two-year deal through 2026 with a club option for 2027. Previously, Gabby English signed with the Orlando Pride in 2021. Mallory Eubanks was selected by the Washington Spirit in the second round of 2018 NWSL Draft, and Elisabeth Sullivan was taken in the fourth round of the 2014 NWSL Draft by the Portland Thorns.
