
Zimmerman Secures First Signees

STARKVILLE – Freshly-minted Mississippi State soccer head coach Nick Zimmerman has secured the first signees of his tenure, bringing in two transfers who will join the program when classes resume in the spring.
Goalkeeper Sarah Wommack (App State) and forward Elsa Johnson (Xavier) are preparing to join the SEC Regular Season Champions in Starkville.
She played with NC Fusion on the club circuit and was the 2022 ULS Academy Cup Golden Glove winner. She was chosen to play in the 2021 Tennessee National Selection Game as a member of the Fusion. Wommack played two seasons for Northwest Guilford High School, earning the 4A Metro Defensive Player of the Year award in 2021 and earning all-state honors twice.
The Jackson product played at IMG Academy for three seasons and was selected for the Girls Academy Southeastern Talent ID Showcase all three seasons.

Wommack is the more experienced of the two, having played every minute in net for App State this fall. She posted a 1.53 goals against average and made 64 saves on her way to four shutouts.
