Signee Spotlight: Kinley Keller
December 14, 2024 | Softball
STARKVILLE – Outfielder Kinley Keller, who won a national championship on the travel circuit this summer, signed with Mississippi State softball in November.
Â
"Kinley is a dynamic outfielder from one of the nation's top travel programs, the Texas Bombers Gold coached by Scott Smith," head coach Samantha Ricketts said. "She brings championship experience, a powerful bat and great range in the outfield. We're excited to welcomer her to campus and see her join our talented outfield group soon."
Â
The New Braunfels, Texas, native played at Davenport High School where her team has won two bi-district championships and she has earned First Team All-District honors three times.
Â
As a freshman, Keller hit .557 with a 1.063 slugging percentage on her way to Team MVP and San Antonio News Express All-Area Team honors. The following season she was named District 28-4A Offensive MVP after batting .495 with a .924 slugging percentage.
Â
This spring, she again won the district's offensive MVP award after hitting .554 with a 1.238 slugging percentage. She will enter her senior season as Davenport's all-time career leader with 27 home runs and a .533 career average.
Â
"I chose MSU because as soon as I stepped onto the campus it felt like home," Keller said. "The coaches were like family and all the girls were so welcoming to me. I want to be a part of a competitive program that I not only can contribute to but that can grow me as a player and person. The whole campus has such great facilities as well, not to mention that MSU has that small town feel that I really enjoy and can see myself living in for the next four years."
Â
While playing with the Bombers on the travel circuit, Keller won the 2024 Alliance Fastpitch 18U National Championship and finished third at the 2023 Alliance Fastpitch 16U National Championship. She hit .416 with a .490 slugging percentage in the 2021-22 season while launching 17 homers and swiping 22 bases. She hit .373 and .345 in the summers following her sophomore and junior seasons, respectively.
Â
Academically, Keller is a three-time Academic All-District honoree and has been named to the All "A" Honor Roll every year. She is a member of the National Honor Society.
Â
Mississippi State softball signed six student-athletes on National Signing Day on Nov. 13. State's class included three players that were ranked by Extra Inning Softball as a top 15 player at their position nationally. The Bulldogs will continue to release an in-depth look at each signee throughout the month of December.
