Novansky Shares Singles Crown

ATLANTA – For the second year in a row, Mississippi State carried home a championship at the GT Fall Invite.
Last fall, Marshall Landry and Nemanja Malesevic claimed the doubles title together. This year, it was Michal Novansky securing things for the Bulldogs after going undefeated singles over the weekend.
Novansky, a junior from Slovakia, rallied past Yale's Jason Shuler 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 on Sunday to be one of only four competitors to post a perfect 3-0 record in singles during the event joining Liberty's Carl Roothman and Yale's Vignesh Gogineni and Jim Ji.
MSU finished with four wins on the third and final day of the GT Fall Invite and tallied nine victories total during the tournament. Radomir Tomic cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Vanderbilt's Dylan Charlap on Sunday while fellow sophomore Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes also won his singles match against Liberty's Rodrigo Santiago 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Ferrer Guimaraes also teamed with Landry to triumph in doubles against the Vanderbilt tandem of Tighe Brunetti and Jack Ingram, 8-5. Novansky and Tomic nearly knocked off Alabama's 18th-ranked duo of Zach Foster and Andrii Zimnokh but were edged in a tiebreaker 8-7(3).
The next action for the Bulldogs will be a pair of tournaments scheduled from Nov. 7-10. Â Niccolo Baroni and Mario Martinez Serrano are slated to compete at the ITA Sectional Championships in Tallahassee, Florida while Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez are bound for the ITA Conference Masters Championships in Rome, Georgia.
