No. 1 Jovanovic, Sanchez Martinez Claim All-American Status

WACO, Texas – For the second consecutive season, Mississippi State's Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez earned All-American status by reaching the quarterfinals at the NCAA Individual Championships.
Jovanovic and Sanchez Martinez, the No. 1 ranked doubles tandem in the nation, secured a dominant straight-set victory over fourth-ranked Filippos Astreinidis and Paul Inchauspe of Princeton 6-4, 6-2 in the Round of 16 on Thursday afternoon.
It marked the highest-ranked win Jovanovic and Sanchez Martinez have had in their careers and was their second in as many days over top 15 foes. The Bulldog juniors are 11-2 this fall including four ranked wins and have racked up 16 ranked victories teaming together over the past two-plus seasons.
MSU has now earned 51 All-American honors in program history with Jovanovic and Sanchez Martinez becoming the 13th and 14th Bulldogs to be tabbed All-Americans multiple times.
Jovanovic and Sanchez Martinez return to action for Friday's quarterfinals against Lui Maxted and Pedro Vives of TCU at 3 p.m.Â
