
Five Bulldogs Named To CSC Academic All-District Team

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State soccer continues to set the standard for excellence, with five Bulldogs earning spots on the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. Maddy Anderson, Macey Hodge, Ilana Izquierdo, Zoe Main, and Aitana Martinez-Montoya were recognized for their remarkable achievements, balancing success on the field with exceptional academic performance.
Among this elite group, Anderson and Hodge have also been selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists. These two standouts will advance to the national ballot, where members of the CSC will vote to determine the first, second, and third-team Academic All-America honorees. The winners will be announced on December 11, 2024, further solidifying the Bulldogs' place among the nation's best.
The Academic All-District program highlights student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. Mississippi State's honorees have been integral to the Bulldogs' record-breaking 2024 season, which included the program's first-ever SEC Regular Season Championship and a top-3 national ranking. Their selection underscores the program's commitment to fostering success both in the classroom and on the pitch.

Maddy Anderson: A senior goalkeeper, Anderson has been a linchpin in MSU's nationally leading defense as she earned SEC Goalkeeper of the Year honors.Anderson's contributions have helped the Bulldogs achieve unprecedented success this season, including numerous shutouts in SEC play. Anderson's academic record is equally flawless, as she holds a perfect 4.00 GPA in both her undergraduate and graduate studies. She earned a B.S. in Psychology and is pursuing an M.S. in Kinesiology-Sport Pedagogy.

Macey Hodge: The Bulldogs' captain and midfield general, Hodge has been the heart of the team's success since she has stepped on campus. Known for her tireless work rate and leadership, Hodge was named SEC Midfielder of the Year and has played nearly every minute this season, contributing to both the offensive and defensive efforts that have defined MSU's dominance. Off the field, Hodge has excelled academically with a 3.91 GPA in her B.S. in Psychology and a 3.90 GPA in her M.S. in Kinesiology-Sport Administration.

Ilana Izquierdo: A dynamic midfielder, Izquierdo has been a key contributor to the Bulldogs' success over the past two seasons. Her creativity and vision have made her an invaluable part of the team as she brings a sense of professionalism to every aspect of her life. Izquierdo complements her athletic achievements with strong academic performance, maintaining a 3.78 GPA while pursuing a B.S. in Food & Nutrition.

Martinez-Montoya's academic achievements are equally impressive, with a 3.75 GPA while earning a B.S. in Psychology.
