TEAM NOTES
- For the third consecutive season under Coach Jans, Mississippi State advanced to 3-0 as the Bulldogs used a strong second-half to claim an 80-59 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday evening at Humphrey Coliseum.
- Overall, State has won 19 of the 20 all-time meetings versus the Lions and improved to 55-5 against teams from the Southland Conference.
- The Bulldogs have dialed up wins in 26 of 40 games versus non-SEC opponents during the Coach Jans era. Â
- Through three games, the Maroon and White has amassed 276 total points for an average of 92.0 points per contest. It's a program-best for State since the 2001-02 squad posted a 93.3 points per contest average in its first three games.
- The Bulldogs have played in-front of an attendance average of 8,865 fans in their first three outings. The 8,865 average is the program's best through three games since 2007-08.
- State moves to 23-2 under Coach Jans when holding its opponent to under 60 points.
- The Bulldogs advanced to 41-7 under Coach Jans when shooting a higher field goal percentage than their opponent.
- State connected for a season's best 19 free throws and have won 24 of 30 outings when knocking down at least 15 foul shots with Coach Jans at the helm.
- The Bulldogs improved to 16-1 during the month of November under Coach Jans.
- The Maroon and White forced 19 turnovers and cashed in 16 of the game's 23 points off mistakes.
- State hit 19 of its 37 field goals on the interior and dominated paint points by a 38-16 edge.
- State improved to 37-5 when leading at halftime under Coach Jans as the Bulldogs won the second 20 minutes by a 40-22 scoreline.
- The Maroon and White began the second half on a 14-2 run, and the +18 margin for State is the third-best second-half margin under Chris Jans.
- State was able to get out in transition for the third consecutive game and converted 14 fastbreak points compared to Southeastern Louisiana's five.
- The Bulldogs won the battle of the boards for the 48th time in 72 games under Coach Jans and improved to 36-12 when accomplishing the feat.
- State won the glass battle, 41-37, as the Bulldogs moved to 23-6 when grabbing at least 40 boards during the Chris Jans era.
- As a team, State connected on 27-for-62 from the field (43.5 percent), notched a 7-of-28 clip from three-point territory (25 percent) and sank 19-for-26 at the foul line (73.1 percent).
- On the other hand, Southeastern Louisiana recorded a 19-of-54 shooting effort (35.2 percent), hit 9-for-25 of its three-pointers (36.0 percent) and knocked down 12-of-17 at the charity stripe (70.6 percent).
