BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi State senior forward Aitana Martinez-Montoya has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career after a standout performance across two crucial victories. The Madrid, Spain native delivered a five-point week, scoring two goals and recording an assist to help propel the Bulldogs to wins over Georgia and Missouri.
Martinez-Montoya's impact was felt in a thrilling 2-1 win at Georgia, where she found the back of the net and added an assist to fuel the offense to a second half comeback. Martinez-Montoya followed up her stellar Thursday with another goal in State's commanding 5-0 victory over Missouri, capping off an exceptional week.
With five goals, three assists, and 13 points so far this season, Martinez-Montoya has been a driving force behind Mississippi State's success, helping the Bulldogs maintain their strong form in SEC play.
This recognition marks her first SEC weekly honor and adds to her impressive senior campaign as she continues to lead the team with her dynamic play.
Martinez-Montoya and the Bulldogs will return to the pitch on Friday night when they take on in-state foe Ole Miss for the Magnolia Cup. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed via SECN+.
