In 44 days, the Bulldogs will make their highly-anticipated home debut at Humphrey Coliseum versus UT Martin (Nov. 11) following a SEC/Pac-12 showcase season opener against Arizona State (Nov. 8) at the Barstool Invitational in Chicago, Illinois.
Fans can purchase season tickets through Mississippi State's Athletic Ticket Office starting as low as $225 at www.HailState.com/tickets or by calling (662) 325-2600/(888) 463-2947 (GO DAWGS).
As previously announced, Mississippi State's 18-game SEC schedule features at least one matchup with all 13 league opponents. The Bulldogs have drawn home-and-home matchups with fellow 2023 NCAA Tournament participants Alabama, Auburn and Kentucky along with Ole Miss and South Carolina.
The SEC slate for the Maroon and White is bookended with matchups against South Carolina. The Bulldogs travel to Columbia for the opener (Jan. 6 – 11 AM CT on CBS), while the Gamecocks make the return trip to Starkville for the regular season finale (March 9 – 1:30 PM CT on SEC Network). State has won three of its previous four meetings with South Carolina in SEC openers.
The Bulldogs will play three of their first five SEC games inside a renovated, state-of-the-art Humphrey Coliseum. A midweek matchup with Tennessee (Jan. 10 – 6 PM CT on SEC Network), who appeared in last year's NCAA Sweet 16, serves as State's SEC opening act at home.
January's schedule also features three consecutive Saturday home dates with defending SEC champion Alabama (Jan. 13 – 7:30 PM CT on SEC Network), Vanderbilt (Jan. 20 – 2:30 PM CT on SEC Network) and Auburn (Jan. 27 – 2:30 PM CT on SEC Network) sandwiched between midweek road tilts versus Kentucky (Jan. 17 – 6 PM CT on ESPN2), Florida (Jan. 24 – 7:30 PM CT on SEC Network) and Ole Miss (Jan. 30 – 7:30 PM CT on SEC Network).
The February portion of the schedule starts at Alabama (Feb. 3 – 7:30 PM CT on SEC Network) leading into a stretch of four of the next six games at home against Georgia (Feb. 7 – 8 PM CT on SEC Network), Arkansas (Feb. 17 – 1 PM CT on ESPN or ESPN2), Ole Miss (Feb. 21 – 8 PM CT on ESPN or ESPN2) and Kentucky (Feb. 27 – 6 PM CT on ESPN) to wrap up the month.
The Bulldogs will make second-half SEC road stops at Missouri (Feb. 10 – 7:30 PM CT on SEC Network), LSU (Feb. 24 – 7:30 PM CT on SEC Network), Auburn (March 2 – 3 PM CT on ESPN2 or ESPNU) and Texas A&M (March 6 – 8 PM CT on ESPN2 or ESPNU).
The Bulldogs are led by Chris Jans who guided Mississippi State back to college basketball's biggest stage with a program single-season record for a first-year coach with 21 victories and a 2023 NCAA Tournament trip.
The Maroon and White are among the nation's leaders returning 80.9 percent of its points, 72.4 percent of its rebounds, 83.8 percent of its assists, 83.6 percent of its steals and 75.2 percent of its blocks from last season.
Tolu Smith (15.7 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 1.7 APG), Shakeel Moore (9.8 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.7 SPG), D.J. Jeffries (8.8 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.1 SPG), Dashawn Davis (8.7 PPG, 3.5 APG, 1.7 SPG) and Cameron Matthews (6.9 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.5 SPG) combined for 85.3 percent of the team's starts (145-of-170) from last season.
The Bulldogs have brought in an impressive group of newcomers which include Jimmy Bell Jr. (West Virginia), Trey Fort (Howard College), Jaquan Scott (Salt Lake Community College) and Andrew Taylor (Marshall) from the transition portal and junior college ranks.
Mississippi State's talented freshmen class features Harrison Alexander, Gai Chol, Josh Hubbard and Adrian Myers. The Bulldogs also bring back Shawn Jones Jr., KeShawn Murphy and Martavious Russell who will look to build on their freshmen campaigns.
