#StateToTheShow: Women’s Pro Fastpitch Week 7

STARKVILLE – With three games left in the regular season, Fa Leilua and Chloe Malau'ulu's Oklahoma City Spark sit just two games back of the Women's Pro Fastpitch-leading Texas Smoke. The two franchises will go head-to-head on Aug. 5-7 to determine which team earns the No. 1 seed in the WPF Playoffs beginning on Aug. 9.
Leilua remains tied for the league lead in OPS (1.093), and her on-base percentage alone ranks second (.476). Her eight homers and 27 walks also lead WPF, and her 22 RBIs are tied for second.
Malau'ulu started the week off the right way, delivering a walk-off sacrifice fly as the Spark defeated the USSSA Pride last Friday. In the same game, Malau'ulu drew a walk and beat out an infield single while Leilua opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the first.
The following day, Leilua singled to load the bases in the midst of a seventh-inning rally that fell just short in a 4-2 loss to the Pride. In the series finale, Leilua again launched a two-run homer as the Spark lost, 15-4. However, Malau'ulu saved three runs for the Spark, robbing a would-be grand slam in center field and limiting the damage to a one-run sacrifice fly.
Leilua closed the series against the Pride hitting .400 with two homers and four of the Spark's 12 RBIs. The Spark took two of three games in their final home series with the Smoke, claiming the opener, 6-5, and the finale, 9-8.
