#StateToTheShow: Athletes Unlimited Season Recap

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Mia Davidson-Smith finished her second season of Athletes Unlimited play in 20th place on the leaderboard with 1,298 points. The former Mississippi State All-American ranked second in the league in home runs (4), third in RBIs (10) and fourth in slugging percentage (.553).

Davidson-Smith successfully reached base in all 15 games of the season after drawing a walk and being hit by two pitches in the final week of the campaign. She continues to hold the Athletes Unlimited season and career records for hit-by-pitches with 10 this year and 14 overall.

She reached base in 8-of-17 leadoff opportunities (47.1 percent), which ranked sixth among players with at least 12 leadoff plate appearances. For the final game of the season, she was ESPN's Star in the Stands, conducting an interview on the broadcast during the second inning.

Davidson-Smith climbed as high as second on the leaderboard this season following a career-high 514-point Week 2 that saw her earn two MVP nods in three games. She remained inside the top 10 entering the final week of games.

Her final season total was 18 points better than her rookie campaign. Between the two seasons, Davidson-Smith took home a bronze medal in the shortened AUX season in June while batting .417 with a league-leading five home runs and eight RBIs.

She will now turn her attention to the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, on Oct. 29-Nov. 4. Davidson-Smith was one of 16 players named to the U.S. Women's National Team on Thursday that will look to defend its gold medal from last year's competition in Guatemala. Davidson-Smith batted .412 at the Pan American Games with three home runs in nine games.
