Bair Concludes Decathlon On Night Two of NCAA Track Championships
June 08, 2023 | Track & Field
AUSTIN, Texas – The grind of the decathlon came to a close on night two of the 2023 NCAA Track and Field Championships, while the women took the track for the first time at the championships.
Â
Peyton Bair, who entered the day on sixth after five events, got things rolling right where he left off on Wednesday with a sixth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles. Following a nearly two hour weather delay directly after the hurdles, Bair would pick up with the field events. He earned a pair of top 25 finishes in the discus and the javelin and finished top 20 in the pole vault and the 1500 meter run. At the conclusion of the night, Bair had racked up a total of 7,646 points and finished 11th overall in his first career NCAA Outdoor Championship while also earning Second Team All-American honors.
Â
On Thursday, Kamaya Debose-Epps competed in the 100 meter and 200 meter races. In her final time wearing the Maroon and White, the graduate earned a pair of top 25 finishes in both events and Honorable Mention All-American honors in both events.
Â
Asia Poe, a junior from Madison, Miss., recorded a jump distance of 5.88m (19'3.5") on her third and final jump of the night. Poe will conclude her junior campaign with Honorable Mention All-America honors.
