#StateToTheShow: Davidson-Smith Wins AUX Bronze
June 28, 2023 | Softball
ROSEMONT, Ill. – In her first AUX season, Mia Davidson-Smith took home her first Athletes Unlimited medal, finishing third on the league leaderboard. The former Mississippi State All-American collected 1,122 points, including 382 stats points, which was the second-highest total in the league.
Davidson-Smith set two AUX single-season records, launching a league-leading five homers and being hit by seven pitches. Her 382 stat points and 12 runs scored were both second in AUX single-season history, and her 26 total bases were tied for third in the AUX record book. She closed the season leading the league in both on-base percentage (.615) and slugging percentage (1.083). Her .417 batting average was fourth.
In her first game of the final series, Davidson-Smith went 2-for-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. She came around to score twice as her squad defeated Team Warren, 11-4. The following day, she hit a two-run homer in a 15-4 loss to Team Garcia while drawing another walk and being hit by a pitch. That home run left the bat at 81.5 mph, her second-highest exit velocity on a long ball this season.
Some of Davidson-Smith's most-impressive numbers came in key situations. She successfully advanced a runner in 78.6 percent of her opportunities (11-of-14). She also provided a spark to open innings, reaching base in seven of 11 leadoff opportunities (63.6 percent). Two of those leadoff chances resulted in solo shots.
Davidson-Smith's doubleheader on the season's final day was canceled due to weather in the area. In order to ensure an equal number of games among all competitors, statistics and points from Game 16 between Team Warren and Team Garcia were nullified, which erased the efforts of three players who had passed her while she sat in the stands.

"AUX was a great experience," Davidson-Smith said. "It was such a fun time, but a short amount of time to help me get prepared for Championships coming up. Winning a third place medal is pretty cool, especially being my first time playing AUX. I'm glad it gave me a chance to catch more."Whenever @MIASKY3332 steps up to the plate, you know you're gonna see textbook hitting 📚#AUSB | #AUX pic.twitter.com/HK0JvTQ6Wc
