June 23, 2023 | Soccer
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State soccer released its 2023 schedule on Friday. The Bulldogs will play an 18-match regular season this fall, with 10 matches being played at the MSU Soccer Field.
The 2023 schedule features seven teams that made the NCAA Tournament in 2022 and contests against major conference opponents from the PAC 12, Big Ten and ACC.
"Coach Dunleavy has once again done an exceptional job of putting together a very tough non-conference schedule," head coach James Armstrong said. "The quality of opponents and variety of styles will serve as a great challenge and bring lots of exciting matchups. It will also serve as great preparation for what is always a highly competitive conference schedule. We can't wait for our fans to come out and ring their cowbells for some awesome home games and break that attendance record again. Hail State!"
The Bulldogs will open their season in Arizona with a road match at Grand Canyon on Aug. 17 at 5 p.m. CT, followed by a contest at Arizona State on Aug. 20 at 5 p.m. CT.
Mississippi State's first home match of the 2023 season will be on Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m. when the Bulldogs welcome Northwestern State to StarkVegas. SEC play will begin on Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m. when Mississippi State hosts Auburn.
This fall marks the fifth season under the direction of head coach James Armstrong. Last season, coach Armstrong guided the Bulldogs to their second NCAA Tournament in program history, including its first NCAA Tournament victory when Mississippi State defeated New Mexico State 2-1 on Nov. 11.
