Women’s Golf Set to Compete in NCAA Regional Play for the 12th Time Monday
May 07, 2023 | Women's Golf
Westfield, Ind. – For the first time in program history, Mississippi State women's golf will hold the number one seed when they tee off from regional action from Westfield, Indiana. The three-day event will begin Monday, May 8th and run through Wednesday.
The club at Chatham Hills will set the stage for the 54-hole stroke play event. This championship course provides a unique golf experience due to the rolling terrain, playing through woods, down creeks and along ravines to make each hole a new challenge.
The Westfield Regional is hosted by Indiana and the Indiana Sports Corp. Conference. The Bulldogs will be joined by some of the most talented programs in the country this week. Joining Mississippi State in the Westfield Regional will be Oregon, Vanderbilt, Iowa State, Virginia, Tulsa, Tennessee, Michigan, Oregon State, Xavier, Lipscomb and Morehead State.
Senior Abbey Daniel will take the number one spot in her 33rd career appearance. Daniel has appeared in every event for MSU this season and currently has a 73.86 scoring average.
Fellow senior Hannah Levi will be second in the lineup in her 41st career event. Levi's performance has been scorching this spring, delivering some of the best results in her career with consecutive top-five finishes, securing a third-place position at The Show and fourth at the Gators Invitational. As a Bulldog, Levi has experienced remarkable success in the latter half of her recent regular season, accumulating five consecutive top-25 finishes this spring.
Freshman Izzy Pellot has been an active participant in every event throughout her early Bulldog career and will take the third spot in Indiana. Pellot's contributions to the team have been highly recognized, earning her SEC All-Freshman honors.
Another rising star on the team, Surapa Janthamunee, will make her fifth team appearance in the fourth spot. Janthamunee, known as SJ, has also been honored with the All-SEC Freshman distinction.
Rounding out the lineup for the Bulldogs is the SEC Player of the Year, Julia Lopez Ramirez. Lopez Ramirez, who became the first Bulldog golfer to be named the SEC Player of the Year, finished the regular season with a scoring average of 70.31, the lowest in Mississippi State history and the second lowest in all of collegiate golf this season.
The Bulldogs will tee off at 7:00 am. Pairings are not available at this time.
