Mississippi State Announces 2023 Homecoming Date and Football Game Themes

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State Athletics announced the Homecoming date and game themes associated with the 2023 football schedule Tuesday afternoon. The home slate is stacked with eight games, featuring four SEC contests against LSU, Alabama, Kentucky and Ole Miss. Coming off a nine-win season and consensus top-25 recruiting class, there is considerable anticipation for the season ahead.
The Bulldogs open the 2023 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 2 against Southeastern Louisiana for the First Saturday in StarkVegas. This new annual tradition brings both excitement and pageantry to Starkville as fans travel from across the state for the first time in months.
State then welcomes Pac-12 foe, Arizona, on Sept. 9 for a return trip following last year's 39-17 Bulldog victory in Tucson. Fans can unify by wearing their favorite team apparel for this year's White Out game. This will also serve as the Cheer and Spirit Pup Squad game where all participants will receive a free t-shirt and pom poms.
The Bulldogs begin SEC play on Sept. 16 against LSU in the Stripe Out game where alternating sections of maroon and white will fill Davis Wade Stadium. Following the team's first road trip of the season, State hosts Alabama on Sept. 30 in the annual True Maroon game. Western Michigan comes to town on Oct. 7 highlighted by Family and Friends Community Day. After nearly a month on the road, the Bulldogs return home on Nov. 4 to host Kentucky for Homecoming Weekend.
State concludes its regular season with two in-state opponents. Southern Miss will travel north on Nov. 18 for Military Appreciation Day. The Dawgs round out the regular season against Ole Miss on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 23) with the 96th Battle for the Golden Egg. This will serve as Senior Day as the team looks to repeat last year's thrilling 24-22 victory.
