May 11, 2023 | Athletics
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State Director of Athletics Zac Selmon has formally announced the additions of Joey Bailey as Deputy Athletics Director for Strategic Initiatives and Administration, and Tom Greene as Deputy Athletics Director for External Engagement to the department's senior leadership team.
"We are thrilled to welcome Joey and Tom to the Mississippi State Family," Selmon said. "Joey and Tom are proven leaders and nationally respected administrators who embody and embrace the values of Mississippi State. They bring a wealth of experience, organization and innovation to our leadership team, and their forward-thinking approach will enhance our student-athlete experience and propel our department to greater heights."
Bailey, who previously served as Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Initiatives at the University of Oklahoma, is responsible for driving and executing cross-functional engagement within the athletics department, evaluating and improving internal functions and processes, while also advising on stakeholder and public relations initiatives. In addition, she assists with oversight and planning of special projects within the department and coordinates strategic planning initiatives.
Bailey joined the University of Oklahoma in 2016 and was a member of the senior leadership team. She was a key member of the SEC Transition committee which studied and prepared OU for the transition into the Southeastern Conference. Prior to her time in strategic initiatives at OU, Bailey was responsible for synergizing external units, a specific focus to revolutionize OU Athletics into a 21st Century athletics department model that launched in August of 2021, resulting in nationally recognized record-breaking crowds and historic revenue achievements. Before Bailey's focus on broader external units, Bailey spent five years with the Sooner Club, which is the fundraising arm for OU Athletics.
Prior to arriving at OU, Bailey worked with Legends, The Dallas Cowboys, and IMG Properties. No stranger to the SEC, Bailey was a member of the Arkansas Razorback women's basketball team and earned her bachelor's degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations and advertising in 2014, and her master's in business administration in 2016 from the Sam Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas.
Greene comes to Starkville after three years at San Diego State University where he was the Vice President for Ticket Sales and Membership Services for Legends under the joint venture with JMI Sports. At MSU, Greene is responsible for the overall supervision of the Bulldogs' external operations with special emphases placed on revenue generation, brand development and marketing. He establishes and oversees the development of the department's integrated marketing programs and creates comprehensive strategies to advance the mission of MSU Athletics through innovation, technology and creativity.
During his time at SDSU, Greene helped lead revenue generation and marketing efforts surrounding the launch of Snapdragon Stadium in September 2022. He led communication, strategy, and execution for all premium and ticket sales resulting in over $50 million in one-time capital gift revenue, 95 percent sell-through of premium seating, and nearly 16,000 season tickets secured. He additionally supported donor fundraising and stewardship alongside the Aztec Club as well as founding level corporate partnerships and sales execution for third-party stadium events.
Greene has also served in leadership roles at the University of Oklahoma and University of Louisville in addition to working with the Atlanta Falcons, Formula 1, and Southern Methodist University.
Greene earned his bachelor's degree in sociology from Southern Methodist University in 2006. He was SMU's head men's lacrosse coach from 2006-08 and again in 2010-11, twice earning Lone Star Alliance coach of the year awards.
