Peyton Bair Named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State track and field athlete Peyton Bair has been named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week following his performance at the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays made him the SEC's top performer in the decathlon this past weekend.

Last weekend, Bair finished in second place overall in Austin with 7,819 points over 10 events, while he also set new personal-best marks in five of those categories. His best marks came in the 100m (10.44; 1st), high jump (2.01m; 2nd), discus (41.74m; 4th), javelin (53.82m; 4th) and 1500m (4:41.89; 3rd).

Bair enters the week ranked second nationally and first in the SEC this outdoor season in the decathlon.

The Mississippi State men's track and field program also entered the week ranked No. 25 in the country in the latest USTFCCCA polls, it was announced by the organization on Monday. Mississippi State is one of seven SEC programs currently ranked in the top 25 in the latest polls.

MSU returns to action on April 7-8 when the Bulldogs travel to Oxford to compete in the Joe Walker Invite. A full schedule and heat sheets will be available later this week.
