Fourth Inning Downs Bulldogs At No. 15 LSU

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State took an early lead, but the Bulldogs surrendered a seven-run fourth inning on its way to a 10-4 loss at No. 15 LSU on Saturday night.
Aquana Brownlee hit a three-run homer in the first, and Chloe Malau'ulu hit a solo shot in the second inning to extend MSU's lead to 4-2. LSU (36-11, 9-8 SEC) scored seven runs in the fourth on six hits, including a three-run triple.
Malau'ulu also added a single and a walk, reaching base in three of four plate appearances. It was her 50th career multi-hit game, and she is now tied for 10th in MSU history. Nadia Barbary walked three times and reached base in every plate appearance.
Jackie McKenna extended her hitting streak to a season-long five games, and Madisyn Kennedy and Shea Moreno also had a base hit. Kennedy had four putouts and three assists, matching her season highs in both categories. Her seven total chances tied her season high and were her most without an error this year.
Aquana Brownlee – Hit a three-run homer in the first … walked twice.
Chloe Malau'ulu – Hit her first home run since March 15 … now has a single, double, triple and homer in the series along with a walk in eight plate appearances … had just two hits in the previous 10 games entering the series … collected an outfield assist for the second night in a row … now has 18 in her career and stands alone in second place in MSU history … is five shy of the MSU career record (23, Iyhia McMichael, 2001-04) … posted her team-leading 14th multi-hit game of the year and 50th of her career, which ranks 10th in school history.
Jackie McKenna – Extended her season-long hitting streak to five games … now one game shy of her longest career streak.
Chloe Malau'ulu drew a leadoff walk, and Nadia Barbary followed with a base hit into left. Paige Cook reached on a fielder's choice as Malau'ulu was forced out at third. Aquana Brownlee then hit a three-run homer.

With one out Ciara Briggs walked. Taylor Pleasants then doubled to right-center field to put runners on second and third. Briggs was thrown out at the plate while Georgia Clark reached on a fielder's choice. With runners on first and third, Clark stole second. Ali Newland then singled to right, scoring both runners.

Raeleen Gutierrez singled up the middle to open the frame then stole second. She advanced to third on Savannah Stewart's ground out to the pitcher. Danieca Coffey walked to put runners on the corners. Briggs singled on a high chopper to short that allowed Gutierrez to score and Coffey to reach second. Pleasants singled up the middle, scoring Coffey and advancing Briggs to second. Clark then singled to center to load the bases. Newland's single to center scored Briggs and moved each runner up a base before Karli Petty hit a bases-clearing triple to break the game open. McKenzie Redoutey walked. A passed ball allowed Petty to score from third and Redoutey to take second.
