Bulldogs Set To Host Mossy Oak Collegiate

STARKVILLE, Miss. – No. 21 Mississippi State is slated to host the two-day Mossy Oak Collegiate on April 3-4. This is the second consecutive year the tournament has been played as the Bulldogs' home event.
MSU will host 17 other schools, five of which are ranked in Golfstat's Top 25. Five other schools from the SEC are also competing. The field includes No. 4 Auburn, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 17 Alabama, No. 23 Ole Miss, No. 24 Kansas State, Abilene Christian, Cincinnati, Lamar, Liberty, Louisiana, LSU, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss, Troy and UAB.Â
"I'm really looking forward to our guys being able to play at home this week," head coach Dusty Smith said. "It's a special week for us to be able to host on such a great golf course in front of our fans. We are thankful to call Mossy Oak our home and never take for granted what we have here at Mississippi State."
The Bulldogs' starting lineup consists of Ford Clegg, Hunter Logan, Garrett Endicott, Austin Vukovits and Ruan Pretorius.Â
Harrison Davis, Alejandro Pedryc, William Wann, Pedro Cruz Silva, Ben Loveard and Bo Blanchard will all compete as individuals in the tournament.Â
Logan has shown he can be successful on his home course. He finished as the runner-up in last year's Mossy Oak Collegiate with a 9-under 207, just three strokes back from the medalist, Vanderbilt's Gordon Sargent. The senior has the third-most rounds of par or better on the team going into the tournament.Â
Endicott (71.52) and Clegg (71.57) both average under 72 strokes and have combined for 25 rounds of par or better on the season.Â
Pretorius is tied with Endicott for most rounds of par or better on the team with 13.
Blanchard and Pedryc will compete in just their second tournament as Bulldogs. This will be Loveard's third career appearance in the Maroon and White.Â
The first and second rounds of the Mossy Oak Collegiate will feature a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT. Round 2 will be played continuously after completion of Round 1.Â
MSU's starting lineup will be paired with Tennessee, Ole Miss and Cincinnati. The groups will tee off from holes 1-4.Â
The Bulldogs competing as individuals will play alongside with Abilene Christian and Lamar, as well as the individuals from Auburn, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Alabama. Those pairings will tee off from holes 16-18.Â
"Our team is eager to compete," Smith added. "This is our next step in our journey. Nothing should change for us. I think it's important to block out all the external noise that comes with playing at home. We need to trust ourselves and each other and play with great excitement this week."Â
