TEAM NOTES
- Mississippi State used a solid performance from D.J. Jeffries combined with stingy defense to pick up its fourth consecutive win, a 64-53 victory over LSU at Humphrey Coliseum.
- With the win, State improves to 16-8 overall and 4-7 in SEC play.
- The Bulldogs connected for over 50 percent of their shots from the third time during the four-game winning streak.
- State's victory snapped a four-game streak by LSU in the series which dated back to the 2018-19 season.
- State scored 17 of its 26 buckets on the interior for a 34-26 advantage in paint points. The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents in the paint in 17 of 24 games this season.
- Mississippi State passed out 15 assists on its 26 field goals. In the last four games, the Bulldogs have distributed 73 assists on 103 baskets.
- State outrebounded LSU by a 30-24 advantage. The Bulldogs have won 14 of 16 games in 2022-23 when coming away with the advantage on the glass.
- For the third consecutive game, the MSU defense held their opponents to under 55 points. LSU's 53 points marked only the third time this season that the Tigers were limited to less than 55.
- State dialed up 39 of its 64 points during the second half. Those 39 points marked the Bulldogs second-highest scoring half in SEC play this year.
- State jumped out to an early lead with a 10-0 run over the first 2:13 in the first half. However, LSU would counter with 22 of the next 28 points to regain momentum.
- Trailing 22-16 at the 7:20 mark of the first half, State would close the period with nine consecutive points capped by a Shawn Jones Jr. driving layup to make it 25-22 heading into the locker room.
- State would lead for the entire second half. The closest LSU would get was within five points in the opening minutes of the stanza.
- Ahead 48-39 with 5:34 left, State put the game away with seven of the next eight points capped by Jeffries trey which put him over 1,000 career points. Â
- As a team, the Bulldogs drained 26-of-50 from the floor (52.0 percent), 6-of-16 from beyond the three-point line (37.5 percent) and was 6-of-13 from the free throw line (46.2 percent).
- Conversely, LSU was 20-of-47 on its shot attempts (42.6 percent), made 7-of-21 of its triples (33.3 percent) and were 6-of-9 at the charity stripe (66.7 percent). Â

D.J. Jeffries
- Paced State with 12 of his season-high 18 points during the second half, accompanied by seven rebounds and four assists.
- His first 15 points came courtesy of a career-best five treys.
- Eclipsed 1,000 career points with his last three-pointer at the 3:45 mark of the 2nd half.
- Reached double figures in 13 games this season, second on the team.
- His 55th outing with 10+ points, MSU and Memphis are a combined 42-13 where Jeffries reaches double-digit points.
- Recorded 16 games in 2022-23 and 44 outings over his career with 5+ rebounds.
- Handed out multiple assists in 13 games this season and 52 times over his career.
- Started 55 of his 58 games at State.
- Notched 13 points and four rebounds over a season's best 36 minutes of action.
- Scored in double figures in three of his past four and five of his last seven outings.
- Amassed 20 of his 25 career games in double figures at State.

- Will McNair Jr. and Shawn Jones Jr. did the heavy lifting off the bench as the duo combined for 13 points.
