
Bulldog Student-Athletes Continue To Shine In The Classroom

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Following an 11th consecutive semester with a department GPA of 3.0 or higher, Mississippi State placed 71 current and former student-athletes on the 2022 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll on Thursday.
Announced by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, the 2022 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll featured 1,154 student-athletes across the sports of cross country, football, soccer and volleyball. The achievement is based on grades from the 2022 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
After earning its third-highest fall semester GPA on record in 2022, football placed 31 Bulldogs on the 2022 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll. Starters Jaden Crumedy, Collin Duncan, Emmanuel Forbes, Jalen Green, Lideatrick Griffin, Jo'quavious Marks, Cole Smith, Nathaniel Watson and Austin Williams were among the honorees. This past fall, Williams picked up his third first-team Academic All-America honor and was named a finalist for the prestigious William V. Campbell Trophy by the National Football Foundation.
MSU soccer turned in the second-most honor roll members among SEC soccer programs with 23.
Maddy Anderson, a first-team Academic All-American last fall, earned a spot on the list. Alyssa D'Aloise, Macey Hodge and Gwen Mummert also were among the honorees. The trio previously garnered Academic All-District accolades. The program earned the second-highest women's team GPA on campus last fall.
Additionally, 10 volleyball student-athletes and seven cross country student-athletes represented MSU on the honor roll.
Any student‐athlete who participates in an SEC championship sport or a student‐athlete who participates in a sport listed on his/her institution's NCAA Sports Sponsorship Form is eligible for nomination to the Academic Honor Roll. The following criteria will be followed:

- A student‐athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or above for either the preceding academic year (two semesters or three quarters) or have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution.
- If a student‐athlete attends summer school, his/her grade point average during the summer academic term must be included in the calculation used to determine eligibility for the Academic Honor Roll.
- Student‐athletes eligible for the Honor Roll include those receiving an athletics scholarship, recipients of an athletics award (i.e., letter winner), and non-scholarship student‐athletes who have been on a varsity team for two seasons.
- Prior to being nominated, a student‐athlete must have successfully completed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours of non‐remedial academic credit toward a baccalaureate degree at the nominating institution. (5) The student‐athlete must have been a member of a varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
