Smith Earns SEC Player Of The Week Award

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Following back-to-back wins over South Carolina and Missouri, Tolu Smith was named SEC Player of the Week for the second time this season announced Monday by the conference office.
Smith posted 20.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game as he became the sixth MSU player since 2017-18 and 42nd player overall to eclipse 1,000 points in program history over the weekend.
Smith piled up a SEC season's best 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against Missouri to claim his fifth double-double over his last seven outings. He has secured a trio of 20-10 games over the seven-game span. Smith tallied 14 of his 25 points during the opening half and his nine free throws made were a career-high.
The Bay St. Louis native is joined by Kentucky's Oscar Tshiebwe as the only SEC players to rank inside the league's top 10 in points (14.9 – 9th) along with the conference's top 5 in rebounds (8.4 – 3rd) and field goal percentage (58.3 – 1st).
