Postgame Notes: MSU vs. Missouri

TEAM NOTES
- Mississippi State led wire-to-wire and came away with its third consecutive victory with a 63-52 convincing win over Missouri. The Bulldogs improved to 15-8 overall and 3-7 in SEC play.Â
- State's defense limited Missouri's high-octane offense to season-lows in points (52), field goals made (16) and field goal percentage (32.0). The Tigers came into the game averaging 83.3 points per game.
- Missouri also entered the game as the nation's leader with 11.0 steals per game. State's offense limited the Tigers to a season-low four steals. Â
- Mississippi State has won seven straight since 2018-19 and 12 of the last 13 meetings dating back to 2014-15 over Missouri. The Bulldogs also moved to 8-1 versus Missouri at Humphrey Coliseum.
- State connected for 16 of its 21 buckets on the interior en route to a 32-16 advantage in paint points. The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents in 16 of 23 game inside the lane. Â
- The Maroon and White passed out 15 assists on its 21 field goals. over the last three games, State has distributed 58 assists on 77 baskets.
- The Bulldogs outrebounded Missouri by a 36-35 margin. State has won 13 of its 15 games in 2022-23 with coming away with the advantage on the glass.
- Mississippi State raced out to an 8-1 advantage over the first 3:17 of the contest. Shakeel Moore drained a three-pointer to give the Bulldogs the seven-point lead.
- All square at 26-26 with 3:32 left to play, the Bulldogs ripped off seven of the last eight points to take a 33-27 edge into the locker room.
- The Maroon and White kept the momentum with eight of the opening 12 points of the second half. Tolu Smith converted an and-one to extend the lead to 41-29 at the 18:15 mark.

- As a team, State drained 21-of-50 from the floor (42.0 percent), 3-of-20 from three-point line (15.0 percent) and 18-of-25 from the free throw line (72.0 percent).
- Conversely, Missouri was 16-of-50 on its shot attempts (32.0 percent), made 6-of-23 of its triples (26.1 percent) and were 14-of-21 at the charity stripe (66.7 percent). Â

Tolu Smith
- Dominated with 25 points and 12 rebounds to claim his fifth double-double over his last seven games. Â
- Third outing of 20+ points and 10+ rebounds in 2022-23 and his eighth career 20-10 game.
- Came away with his 7th double-double this season, and the 20th of his career.
- Double figures in seven straight games with 20+ points on three occasions.
- Nine of his 15 career games of 20+ points have come against SEC opponents. Â
- Became the 6th player since 2017-18 and the 42nd player overall to reach 1,000 career points in Mississippi State history.
- Was 8-of-12 shooting and added a 9-of-12 clip at the free throw line.
- The 9 free throws made were a career-high.
- Passed out multiple assists for the 10th time this season.
- Has started in 73 of 74 career outings for MSU.
- Added eight points and three steals.
- Became the 28th player in program history in 100 career steals, a feat reached in 55 games.
