
No. 24 Mississippi State Rises To Top Five At Watersound After Round Two

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. -Â The No. 24 Mississippi State men's golf team finished the second round of the Watersound Invitational in fifth place, shooting 5-under as a team for the on Monday. Four different Bulldogs shot par or better rounds.
"I thought today was a total group effort," head coach Dusty Smith said. "I was really proud of how patient we stayed and how we trusted ourselves when things were tough for us on our front nine. We need to make sure we come out with the right mindset and focus tomorrow."
Austin Vukovits sits in a four-way tie for 12th after shooting a 71. He carded a pair of birdies and made an eagle on the No. 13 hole.
Garrett Endicott is tied for 16th through the first 36 holes after shooting 71. He made six birdies in the second round, bringing his tournament total to 10.
Hunter Logan made three birdies on the back nine in the second round and is in a three-way tie for 28th going into the final round.
Harrison Davis and Ford Clegg both sit in a five-way tie for 38th. Clegg shot a second-round score of 69 to lead the team and rise 18 spots on the leaderboard, the third-largest jump of any competitor in the field. He sank four birdies and finished the round with a bogey-free back nine.
Ruan Pretorius made a seven-spot jump into a tie for 44th after shooting an even 72 on the day.
"We have competed well so far," Smith added. "But our attention to detail and our process needs to be better."
