Postgame Notes: MSU at Ole Miss

TEAM NOTES
- Mississippi State fought back from a three-point deficit inside the final 2:44 of regulation to force overtime and emerged with a 69-61 overtime triumph over Ole Miss.
- State captured a regular season sweep over the Rebels for the first time since the 2010-11 season. Overall, the Bulldogs improve to 149-119 all-time against Ole Miss.
- The Bulldogs have won six of their last seven games dating back to the TCU game on Jan. 28. Â
- A key to State's recent success has been a balanced offensive attack. The Bulldogs have had at least four players reach double figures in five of its last seven games. State has won six of its seven games when accomplishing the feat.
- The Maroon and White improves to 18-9 overall and 6-8 in SEC action.
- State has won both of its overtime games this season, and Chris Jans has dialed up a 6-1 mark in overtime games as a head coach.
- The Bulldogs trailed 34-33 at halftime. It marked the third time in 2022-23 and first time versus a SEC opponent that State has earned a halftime comeback. It also marks the 23rd time that a Coach Jans squad has registered a win after facing a halftime deficit. Â
- State worked its way to a 46-32 rebounding advantage and has won 16 of 18 outings when outrebounding its opponent this season.
- The Bulldogs connected on 18 of 24 baskets inside the lane en route to a 36-34 edge in paint points. State has outscored its opponents in paint points during 20 of 27 games this season.
- The Bulldogs passed out 15 assists on their 24 field goals. Over the last seven games, State has distributed 116 assists on its 178 baskets.
- The Maroon and White drained 11 of its opening 16 field goals to build a 25-16 edge at the 7:45 mark. Â
- Ole Miss took advantage of 11 first-half turnovers by the Bulldogs and closed the half scoring 17 of the last 24 points to snatch a 33-32 advantage.
- The second half featured five ties and six lead changes. Neither team went up by more than three points during the tightly contested affair.
- Inside the last minute of regulation, State overcame a pair of two-point holes. Shakeel Moore sank a pair of free throws with 50 seconds left followed by a Tolu Smith layup from Dashawn Davis with 29 seconds to go.
- Ole Miss had a chance at the end of regulation, but Eric Reed Jr. blocked Matthew Murrell's game-winning shot attempt to force overtime.
- The Bulldogs buried all four of their field goals and converted on four of their free throws during the extra session.
- As a team, the Bulldogs hit on 24-of-52 from the floor (46.2 percent), 3-of-18 from beyond the three-point line (16.7 percent) and was 18-of-21 from the foul line (85.7 percent).
- Conversely, Ole Miss was 20-of-62 on its shot attempts (32.3 percent), was 3-of-22 on its triples (13.6 percent) and 18-of-26 at the charity stripe (69.2 percent).

- Provided 17 points, 12 rebounds and a SEC season's best five assists.
- Extended his streak to 11 straight games in double figures and has amassed 10+ points in 58 of 78 career games in Maroon and White.Â
- Tallied his eighth double-double of 2022-23 and his 21st career double-double.
- Notched 16.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game over the 11-game stretch.
- The 12 rebounds brought his MSU career total to 615 where he moved past Greg Carter (1988-89-90-91) into 22nd place. Â
- Started 77 of his 78 career games at State.
- Poured in a season's best and a SEC career-high 17 points to go along with seven rebounds and three assists.
- Was 5-of-7 shooting and a perfect 7-of-7 at the foul line.
