GLENDALE, Ariz., - No matter which team wins Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, Mississippi State is guaranteed to have two players crowned champions.
Fletcher Cox and Darius Slay will be representing the Bulldogs on the Philadelphia Eagles' defense while Willie Gay Jr. and Chris Jones will do the same for the Kansas City Chiefs when the Super Bowl kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on FOX.
Either Cox or Jones will join Dallas Cowboys great D.D. Lewis as the only MSU players to earn two Super Bowl rings during their playing careers. Cox helped the Eagles claim Super Bowl LII while Jones won his first with the Chiefs two years later.
All four Bulldogs are expected to start at their respective positions on defense. State is tied for the second-most players in this year's Super Bowl with Florida, Georgia and Michigan. Oklahoma has six players to lead all programs.
The four Bulldogs this year ties Super Bowl XXV between the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills for the most ever Mississippi State players in a single Super Bowl.
Gay and Slay will participate in their first Super Bowl this year, although Gay was a member of Kansas City's Super Bowl squad in 2021 but did not play in the game due to injury. After Sunday, MSU will have had 59 Super Bowl appearances by 41 different players.
Jones, Braxton Hoyett and Martinas Rankin were the last Bulldogs to hoist the Lombardi Trophy with the Chiefs in 2020.
