Postgame Notes: MSU vs. Tulane

TEAM NOTES
- Mississippi State returned to the win column in dominating fashion and led wire-to-wire during a 106-76 rout of Tulane to improve to 7-2 on the season.
- The Bulldogs exploded out the gates and connected on six of their first eight shots to open up a 17-2 advantage during the game's first five minutes.
- State sank 10 three-pointers in the first half and stretched the halftime spread to 62-34. The 62 first-half points was the most scored by a Chirs Jans' coached team, and the most for the Bulldogs since scoring 63 points versus Southeastern Louisiana in the 1995-96 opener. Â
- State moved 6-1 this season and 24-4 overall under Coach Jans when leading at the half.
- The 106 points for the Maroon and White was the most scored since a 103-81 victory over BYU on Dec. 29, 2018. It also marked the most points scored by the Bulldogs in a game outside of the state of Mississippi going back to a 105-68 win over Florida on Feb. 14, 1959.
- It marked the first time this season and only the sixth time overall under Coach Jans that State surrendered 70-plus points to an opponent.
- State has won all four of its game by an average of 16.5 points per contest this season and improved to 9-3 overall under Coach Jans on neutral floors.
- With Coach Jans at the helm, the Bulldogs have won 19 of 23 games versus non-conference opponents. The Maroon and White have posted 14 of the 19 wins by 10+ points.
- State has won eight of the last nine meetings versus the Green Wave dating back to the 1982-83 season.
- Overall, the Bulldogs are 57-39 against Tulane highlighted by a 6-1 record at neutral sites.
- The +30 margin of victory is the second-highest during the 96-game series history over the Green Wave and trails only a 52-14 win during the 1927-28 season. Â
- State's +30 margin of victory is the highest this season and matches the third-largest margin of victory under Coach Jans.
- The Bulldog have registered 10-plus steals in four outings this season and on 16 occasions in two seasons under Coach Jans.
- State set several season watermarks headed by 31 assists on 41 made baskets (75.6 percent), canned 13 three-pointers and had five players register 10+ points for the first time during the 2023-24 season.
- The Bulldogs dominated the battle of the boards en route to a 43-27 rebounding advantage.
- State has earned a +10 rebounding edge in three games this season and on 13 occasions in two seasons under Coach Jans. The Maroon and White converted 13 offensive rebounds into 18 of the game's 23 points on second-chance opportunities.
- The Bulldogs hit on 28 of their 41 field goals on the interior and rolled to a season's best 56 points in the paint. Â
- State scored 53 of the game's 77 points off the bench. Over the last seven games, the Bulldogs have outscored its opponents, 295-122, in bench points.
- State drained 41-of-70 from the floor (58.6 percent), sank 13-of-28 from three-point territory (46.4 percent) and hit on 11-of-18 at the charity stripe (61.1 percent).
- For the season, State has connected on 75 three-pointers which ties the 2006-07 squad for fourth-most in program history through nine games.
- Conversely, Tulane turned in a 24-for-57 shooting effort (42.1 percent), was 5-for-24 on its three-pointers (20.8 percent) and produced a 23-for-34 clip from the free throw line (67.6 percent).

Jimmy Bell Jr.
- Started his 43rd consecutive game over the last two seasons between Mississippi State and West Virginia.
- Overall, Bell Jr. has started in 107 of 124 career games.
- Equaled his season-high with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting coupled with 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Â
- Marked his 5th game of the season and his 12th game of his career in double figures.
- Nine of his top 12 scoring efforts have come against non-conference opponents.
