Class of 2024: Kalani Sells

STARKVILLE – Kalani Sells will join her sister, Kiarra Sells, on the Mississippi State softball team after signing with the Bulldogs in November.

"Kalani Sells is a true hidden gem for our program," head coach Samantha Ricketts said. "She showcases her remarkable athleticism and has an immense potential for success. Kalani utilizes a blend of power and speed in her game, and she will be a valuable asset to our outfield. We are looking forward to reuniting Kalani with Kiarra on the field and having Kalani with us in the maroon and white."

Sells played at Jasper High School alongside her sister, where the pair helped the Jasper Bulldogs to an undefeated season and district title in 2022. She batted .451 that season with eight doubles, five triples and five home runs while posting a 1.409 OPS.

Last spring, Sells led the team in batting average, RBIs, home runs and stolen bases. She was named Jasper's defensive MVP.

"I honestly fell in love with the school before the softball program," Sells said. "One thing that I love about the school is how anyone and everyone is willing to stop what they're doing and help. I absolutely love the family atmosphere that lingers throughout the campus. I knew from the first camp that I attended that this was the place I wanted to call home. I love how the softball program is run from workouts to games to academics. Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog!"

Sells also played volleyball in high school and was a four-year letterwinner. She played travel ball with the Texas Dirt Divas.

Mississippi State softball signed nine student-athletes on National Signing Day on Nov. 8. State's class was ranked No. 15 by Extra Inning Softball. Six of the newcomers have been ranked by Extra Inning Softball as top 100 prospects, marking Rickett's largest number of top-100 prospects since taking over as head coach in 2020. The Bulldogs will continue to release an in-depth look at each signee throughout the month of December.
