Carter Earns Preseason All-SEC Honors

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's Jessika Carter was named to the Preseason All-SEC Second Team in a vote of a select panel of both SEC and national media members, the League announced on Tuesday.
Carter, a native of Waverly Hall, Ga., enters her final season at Mississippi State in 2023-24 following her most productive season in the Maroon and White. Carter is coming off a successful year that saw her earn Second Team All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive Team honors. She also became the 28th member of the 1,000-point club at Mississippi State in the Bulldogs' SEC opener at Vanderbilt on Dec. 29.
On her way to earning multiple All-SEC honors, Carter set new career highs in points per game (14.8), blocked shots (65) and assists (42). She also led the team in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and field goal percentage. To go along with her career numbers, Carter also earned 240 rebounds with 19 steals. She helped Mississippi State return to the NCAA Tournament and become the first-ever women's program to advance to the second round after starting in the First Four.
Carter has played in 119 games, with 82 career starts. She is averaging 10.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. She has scored 20+ points in 14 career games and has recorded double-digit rebounds in 24 games.
