STARKVILLE – For the second week in a row, Mississippi State junior quarterback Will Rogers was selected as one of eight Manning Award Stars of the Week following his performance in Saturday's road win over Arizona.
Â
Rogers was 39-of-49 passing for 313 yards and four touchdowns through the air in the Bulldogs' 39-17 road win over Arizona. It marked the second straight week Rogers threw for over 300 yards and 4-plus touchdowns. Â
Â

Rogers currently leads the SEC in completion percentage (78.6), completions per game (38.5), passing touchdowns (9), passing yards (763), passing yards per game (381.5) and completions for a first down (39). Â
The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, named eight quarterbacks as its "Stars of the Week," while college football fans can now go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. When voting closes on Thursday at 11 a.m. (Central), the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.
Â
Rogers shares the Manning Award Stars of the Week honor with fellow signal callers Carter Bradley (South Alabama), Malik Cunningham (Louisville), Jalon Daniels (Kansas), Frank Harris (UTSA), Sam Hartman (Wake Forest), Kyle Vantrease (Georgia Southern) and Caleb Williams (USC). Â
Â
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting. Since the Manning Award started recognizing Stars of the Week in 2011, 424 different quarterbacks from 129 schools have been recognized. Seventy-three players from 66 different schools were honored during the 2020 season.
