May 19, 2022 | Men's Basketball
CHICAGO – Iverson Molinar will have the opportunity to showcase his talents at this week's 2022 NBA Draft Combine held at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
A trio of Mississippi State players have been chosen during the last three NBA Drafts, with Molinar hoping to be State's fourth selection in four years.
After going through the measurables portion of the combine on Wednesday, scrimmages start on Thursday. Molinar is member of Team Curry which includes fellow SEC standouts Keon Ellis (Alabama), Scotty Pippen Jr. (Vanderbilt) and Jaylin Williams (Arkansas).
Team Curry has two games scheduled for approximately 2:15 p.m. CT on both Thursday and Friday.
Television coverage of the NBA Draft Combine features a pair of four-hour windows on both Thursday and Friday afternoon. Thursday's coverage gets underway from 2-4 p.m. CT on ESPNews before moving to ESPN2 from 4-6 p.m. CT. Friday's coverage begins a 12-1 p.m. CT window on ESPN2 before transitioning to ESPNews from 1-4 p.m. CT.
Molinar was an 2021-22 All-SEC First-Team pick, a NABC All-District First-Team selection, a USBWA All-District First-Team honoree and the Bailey Howell Trophy recipient.
Molinar finished his junior season with double figures in all 34 games which was a program record for a single season. He racked up 595 points which gave him the eighth-best total in program history. Him and Ohio State's E.J. Lindell were the only Power 5 players to score in double figures during every game his team has played in 2021-22.
Molinar was one of three Power 5 players to rack up consecutive seasons of 500-plus points over the last two seasons. The others are Indiana's Trayce Jackson-Davis and Illinois' Kofi Cockburn. He also was one of nine Power 5 players with over 500 points and 100 assists in 2021-22.
Molinar wrapped his State career with 1,279 career points which is 23rd in program history. He piled up 19 career games of 20-plus points. Molinar fired in 22 of his career-high 30 points during the second half and overtime at No. 12 Kentucky earlier this season.
Molinar scored or assisted on 36.8 percent of State's points this season. He has spent a majority of the season ranked among the SEC's top 10 in points (17.5 – 3rd), field goal percentage (45.4 – 7th) and assists (3.59 – 12th).
The 2022 NBA Draft will be held on Thursday, June 23, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
