Lopez Ramirez Named SEC Freshman of the Week

STARKVILLE – The accolades keep coming for Mississippi State women's golf's Julia Lopez Ramirez. After earning two SEC Golfer of the Week honors this season, Lopez Ramirez adds an SEC Freshman of the Week award to her collection following another impressive finish.

Lopez Ramirez, who finished in a tie for fourth at the 50th Annual VyStar Gators Invitational, shot a 2-over par (212) in three rounds for the Bulldogs. The top 5 finish was Lopez Ramirez's third top five finish in as many tournaments during the spring season.

Lopez Ramirez entered the final round of the competition in a tie for 15th at 3-over par, but after a solid third round, Lopez Ramirez jumped up the leaderboard with a 1-under par 69. Her third round score of 69 extended her freshman record of rounds in the 60s to nine on the year.

During her impressive freshman campaign, Lopez Ramirez has finished inside the top five in six of the nine events she has played. Of her six top five finishes, three have resulted in her winning the individual title.
