Class of 2023: Hosanna Lindblade
December 23, 2022 | Softball
STARKVILLE – One of the nation's top pitchers and another Top 50 prospect, Hosanna Lindblade, signed with Mississippi State softball in November.
Lindblade was tabbed the No. 45 prospect in the nation by Extra Inning Softball and the No. 21 pitcher in the class. She was homeschooled but was a six-year letterwinner for her area homeschool team, HCYA Homeschool.
"Hosanna is a pitcher that reminds me of current Bulldog pitcher, Kenley Hawk," head coach Samantha Ricketts said. "A true power pitcher with a dominant drop ball, her upside is tremendous, and I'm excited to see what she can accomplish in the weight room and the bullpen with Coach Josh [Johnson]. Hosanna is a bright young lady that looks at pitching with a different perspective, and that will only aid in her development when she gets to Starkville. She provides a different look in the circle, which will complement our pitching staff."
Lindblade led her homeschool team to state championships in 2018, 2019 and 2021. They went on to win the NACA National Championship in 2021, and she was a member of the NACA All-Tournament Team. Additionally, Lindblade was named a high school All-American in 2021.
"When we are looking for pitchers, we focus on elite level pitches, and Hosanna has an elite level drop ball that she can throw in the upper 60s," associate head coach Josh Johnson added. "I think she will be a very coachable, growth-mindset type of player who will improve every single year. I can't wait to see what she can become as a Bulldog."
Lindblade earned first team all-state honors in 2018 and second team all-state recognition in 2019. She played travel ball for both Texas Glory and Texas Blaze United. Academically, she was a member of the National Homeschool Honor Society and earned National Merit Commended Scholar honors.
"MSU has all of the top-notch tools, resources and coaching that I could ever ask for, but it's really the family aspect that convinced me that this was the right place for me," Lindblade said. "From the moment I started talking to the coaches and players, I knew they cared about me off the field as well as on it. I can't wait to get to work with such a special program in the fall."
Mississippi State softball signed five student-athletes on National Signing Day on Nov. 9. State's class was ranked No. 10 by Extra Inning Softball, the highest-ranked class under Ricketts. Every player was ranked among the nation's top 100 by Extra Inning Softball. The Bulldogs will continue to release an in-depth look at each signee throughout the month of December.
