Griffin Named SEC Co-Special Teams Player of the Week

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's Lideatrick Griffin was named the SEC Co-Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance in the Bulldogs' 39-33 overtime win against Auburn.
Griffin returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter of Saturday's game, marking his second career kickoff returned for a score. The junior has now tied the school record for career kick return touchdowns.
The Philadelphia, Miss., native finished the game with three returns for 144 yards for a school-record fifth career game of 100-plus kickoff return yards. He is now averaging 33.8 yards per return in his career, which is 7.1 yards better than the school record (minimum 30 attempts).
Griffin also hauled in a career-long 57-yard reception with 52 of those yards coming after catch. Overall, he produced a career-high 199 all-purpose yards in the win over the Tigers.
MSU has had a player earn a weekly honor from the conference on five separate occasions this season, while this marks the first SEC weekly honor of Griffin's career.
